Regional Finals Fours & Triples

Bendigo Campaspe Bowls Region

Sunday's matches were played at Bendigo Bowls Club, in pleasant conditions with a cool breeze blowing. The green was fast and got faster, but was tricky with the breeze.

In the morning session, the CVBD representatives in the Women's Fours from Elmore, played consistent team bowls and defeated the Bendigo representatives from Golden Square.

In the Men's Fours, the CVBD Echuca team was no match for the composite team from Bendigo.

Evelyn Locke (Skip), Ann Williams (Third), Lorna Wilson (Second) and Ina Heywood (Lead) receiving Region badges after their win.

In the afternoon, the CVBD Women's Triples team from Moama played the Golden Square team who had lost in the morning. However they put on a strong exhibition in the Triples to win the match.

The CVBD Men's Triples team from Rochester played a match that saw the lead change a number of times. They were 2 down with only the 18th end to play. They all put in good bowls to set up a win by one shot.

David Keenan (Skip), Cameron Keenan (Lead) and Ash Vesty (Third) were all smiles after a tight match.

CVBD Women's Champion of Champions

The final between Linda Harris (Deniliquin) and Liz Easther (Rich River) was quite a battle.

Linda got off to a good start, but Liz, hampered by an injury, fought back to be level at 11 all. Linda was bowling very consistently and again got away from her opponent. Liz struggled on and made Linda work hard for her 25 - 14 win.

Linda is one excited bowler, as she won this event 13 years ago, but was unable to go on to play the Region match. We wish her well, and hope Liz recovers quickly.
